How to install and use the Windows beta: snapshots, search, move plans and organizing rules.
This beta is valid until November 4, 2026, or until a new release becomes available, whichever comes first.
Download Windows beta
Windows only for this beta; Mac is coming later. Download the ZIP, extract it, and run BaldPeakLabs.Inventory-win-Setup.exe.
1
Open Bald Peak Inventory.
2
Enter your Second Life username and password.
3
If your account uses an authenticator (MFA), type the code when the app asks for it.
4
If you like, tick “Start at my home location”.
5
Log in. The app works with the main grid and the Beta grid (Aditi).
Your password goes only to Linden Lab’s login server. Bald Peak Inventory never saves it.
Logging in starts a real session, just like a viewer. Any other viewer using the same account is logged out.
After you log in, the app fetches your whole inventory and saves a snapshot on your computer.
Saved snapshots are listed on the login screen. Open one any time, even without logging in.
You can delete a saved snapshot from the login screen. That only removes the copy on your computer, never items in your inventory.
Click Refresh to fetch your inventory again.
Open folders on the left, just like in your viewer.
Select an item to see its type, creator, permissions, created date and IDs.
Search item names and descriptions. Filter by type, and sort the results.
Double-click a search result to show it in its folder.
A move plan is a list of moves you check before anything happens.
1
Select items or folders. Use Ctrl+click or Shift+click to pick several.
2
Click “Move to…” and choose a folder. The moves collect in the Move plan tab.
3
Save the plan.
4
Under Saved plans, open it and preview every move.
5
Approve it, then run it. It runs slowly on purpose, shows its progress, and you can click Stop at any time.
6
Changed your mind? Use Undo to reverse completed moves where the items and original folders are still available.
Only running a plan changes your inventory in Second Life.
Rules sort lots of items at once. You decide what to match and where it goes, and the app turns that into a move plan.
Item type, creator, “name contains”, and “only inside” a folder.
Into a folder you pick, or into a new subfolder that the app creates.
Rules are checked from top to bottom, and the first match wins. Each rule shows how many items it would move.
Links, and anything in outfits, Trash or Marketplace, are never moved.
Click “Make rule from this” on an item to start a rule. Save your rule sets, then click “Make plan” to send the moves to the Move plan tab.
The app finds exact copies and look-alikes. Looking is read-only, so nothing changes.
Click “Gather into folder…” to add moves that put every copy in one folder. Then remove the ones you don’t want in your viewer.
Textures, snapshots and notecards show in the details pane. They are cached on your computer, so they still show when you are offline.
Save as PNG, Copy all and Save as text appear only for items you have copy, modify and transfer permission on.
OPTIONAL AI SETUP
If your build includes the AI assistant, connect your own AI app to suggest rules and move plans. It is off by default, and you review and approve every plan.
Read AI setup instructionsSome folders could not be fetched. Click Refresh to try again.
Enter the code from your authenticator app.
That’s expected. Second Life allows one session per account, so logging in here ends the other one.
