Set it up

Use these steps if your build includes the AI assistant. This beta is valid until November 4, 2026, or until a new release becomes available, whichever comes first.

Step 1: Turn it on

1

Open Bald Peak Inventory and log in once, so a snapshot is saved.

2

Click “AI assistant: off” at the bottom of the window.

3

Tick “Let my AI assistant read this inventory”.

Step 2: Connect your AI app

In the same panel, click “Connect your AI assistant…”. Then follow the steps for your app.

Claude Desktop

1

On the Claude Desktop tab, click “Connect Claude Desktop”.

2

Quit Claude Desktop completely, then reopen it. On Windows, use Quit from its system tray icon; on macOS, use Quit Claude from the app menu.

3

Open Claude Desktop again. Once it starts the server, Bald Peak Inventory shows “✓ Working”.

4

Look for bald-peak-inventory in Claude’s tools menu.

ChatGPT desktop app

1

On the “Other AI apps” tab, click “Put the server in place”.

2

In ChatGPT, open Settings → MCP servers → Add server.

3

Name it bald-peak-inventory and choose STDIO.

bald-peak-inventory

4

Paste the exact server command shown by Bald Peak Inventory for your computer. The path below is a Windows example; use the app’s displayed path on macOS.

%LOCALAPPDATA%\BaldPeakInventory\ai-server\BaldPeakInventory.Mcp.exe

5

Save, then click Restart.

6

Use a Work conversation with local computer access. Availability depends on your app and organization settings. See the official MCP setup documentation.

Other AI apps

The “Other AI apps” tab includes configuration examples for clients such as Claude Code, VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, LM Studio and Gemini CLI. Support depends on the client and version.

Use a client that supports local STDIO MCP servers. Copy its configuration from the app and use the executable path shown for your operating system.

Step 3: Ask

Ask your AI in your own words. Here are a few to copy and try:

“Use bald-peak-inventory to give me an overview of my Second Life inventory.”

“Look at my Objects folder and propose rules to sort it into subfolders.”

“Propose a move plan that gathers my landmarks into the Landmarks folder.”

“Which creators fill most of my inventory, and how could I group their items?”

Step 4: Review in the app

Suggestions appear in Bald Peak Inventory marked “Suggested by AI”. They show up by themselves when you switch back to the app, or you can click Refresh.

1

Find rule sets in the Rules tab, and plans under Saved plans in the Move plan tab.

2

Preview the plan and check each move.

3

Approve it, then run it.

4

If needed, use Undo to reverse completed moves where the items and original folders are still available.

Asking again under the same name replaces the AI’s earlier draft.

Troubleshooting

The tools don’t show up in Claude.

Quit Claude Desktop completely and reopen it. Check the connection status in Bald Peak Inventory and confirm that inventory access is enabled.

My AI says it isn’t allowed.

Turn on “Let my AI assistant read this inventory” in Bald Peak Inventory.

My AI says there’s no saved inventory.

Open Bald Peak Inventory and log in once, so a snapshot is saved.

ChatGPT connects but doesn’t use it.

Check that you are using Work with local computer access and that the server is enabled. App availability and organization policies can affect local MCP access. Official MCP setup documentation.
