Bald Peak Inventory privacy policy

Effective October 21, 2026. This policy describes how Bald Peak Labs’ Bald Peak Inventory desktop application handles your information, including its optional AI connection, software updates and license-key services. It covers the Windows beta; Mac availability will be announced separately.

Information stored on your computer

The app saves inventory snapshots containing avatar names and identifiers, grid details, folder and item names and identifiers, descriptions, creators, permissions and other inventory metadata. It also stores organizing rules, move plans, completed-move records used for Undo, and a creator-name cache.

Texture previews and notecard text you open may be cached locally for offline use. Preferences include your last username, login options, AI access choice and the version of the app terms you accepted. These records support browsing, searching, organizing and restoring your work between sessions.

Login and Second Life connections

Your login credentials are used to connect to Linden Lab’s login service. Bald Peak Inventory does not save your password or authenticator code to disk. Credentials are handled in memory during login; clearing an input does not guarantee immediate removal from process memory.

Connecting and using online features sends the requests and technical connection information needed to Linden Lab, including the app’s viewer identifier and version. Linden Lab processes that information under its own policies. Logging in starts a real avatar session and can disconnect another viewer using the same account.

Optional AI access

AI access is off by default. If you enable it and connect an AI client, the local connection can expose saved avatar and inventory metadata, including names, identifiers, folder paths, descriptions and creators. It can save suggested rules and draft move plans in the local database. It cannot log into Second Life or execute inventory moves through those tools; you review, approve and run plans in the app.

If you use a cloud AI service, information returned to its client may be sent to that provider and processed under its terms, privacy policy and account settings. A fully local client/model can process information on your computer. Turning AI access off blocks subsequent tool requests; it does not delete information already received by your AI provider.

Updates and license keys

At this time, the only information the Bald Peak Inventory app sends to the Bald Peak Labs website is for software updates and license-key services. This includes requests needed to check for and download updates, and license-key information needed to process licensing requests. The app does not send inventory snapshots, item or folder details, cached previews, Second Life passwords or authenticator codes to our website.

Installed copies can check www.baldpeaklabs.com for updates and download available update packages in the background. Applying an update is initiated through the app’s update action. Update and license-key requests disclose your IP address and routine request details to our hosting infrastructure and may be recorded in server/security logs. The application currently has no built-in analytics or automatic crash-report submission.

Optional AI connections are separate: information returned to your chosen AI client may be processed by that provider as described above. Information you choose to submit through the website or support portal is also separate from automatic app communications.

When you contact support

If you open a support ticket, we receive the information you provide, such as your account/contact details, message and attachments. We use it to respond and investigate the reported problem. Do not send passwords, authenticator codes or a complete inventory database unless there is a specific need and you choose to share it. Screenshots and logs can contain personal or inventory information; review them before sending.

Retention and deletion

Local snapshots, caches, settings, rules and plans remain on your computer until removed. Deleting a snapshot in the app removes that local snapshot, not your in-world inventory, and does not necessarily remove separate caches or move records.

To remove all app data, close Bald Peak Inventory and any connected AI server/client, then remove the BaldPeakInventory data folder. On Windows it is normally %LOCALAPPDATA%\BaldPeakInventory. This also removes saved rules, plans and Undo records, so keep any copies you need first. Uninstalling the app may leave user data behind. Separately exported files, backups and information sent to an AI provider must be managed separately.

For support records or server-side information held by Bald Peak Labs, contact support with your request. Retention or deletion may depend on the operational, security or legal need for the records.

Your choices and data security

You can browse saved snapshots offline, leave AI access disabled, turn it off later, remove local data, and choose what to send to support. Local app records can be accessed by other people or software with access to your operating-system account or files. Protect your computer and backups with appropriate access controls and disk encryption. No storage or transmission method guarantees complete security.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when the app’s data practices change and revise the effective date. Review the policy when installing a new release or enabling a new feature.
